Entry from: Santiago, Chile Entry Title: “Santiago” Entry: “After 3 flights in one day, we arrived in Santiago at 11.30pm. Santiago is obviously a more prosperous and modernised city than Lima. We were instantly aware of feeling more at ease with the familiarities of a British city. After travelling in such hot and humid conditions (whilst wearing 2 day old clothes) it was a huge relief to jump in the shower and fall into bed. Something in Peru obviously decided it didn´t want to leave Paul and throughout our travels that day he was complaining of itchy legs. When he took off his trousers that night he saw that an insect of some kind had had a feast on his leg as he now has bites all over them! (The itchyness has now eased). Following as late a breakfast as possible (10.15), we chilled for a bit before setting off to explore downtown Santiago just after 1. We walked through the main shopping centre and headed for the greener areas of the city. We passed, and were hypnotised by, a fantastic water fountain which we could have stayed and watched for hours. Eventually we set up outside a restaurant called La Bohemme where we tried the South American tipple “Pisco Sour”. As it was a little too much like wine, we didn´t drink much!
