Santiago Cheap Flights

A TripAdvisorâ„¢ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Santiago (Chile), Mendoza (Argentina), Cuzco, Peru by TravelPod blogger Dickyvicky titled “South America”. Dickyvicky’s travel blog entry: “On 28/3, we arrived in Santiago (Chile) earlier than we left Auckland, having done an eleven hour flight (work that one out!), with Rich´s rucksack weighing in at a record 27kg! Chile seemed nice, despite our first experience being a local handing Rich his pet tarantula to hold. Whilst cheap compared to New Zealand, we´d been advised that Argentina was even cheaper and less touristy, so we decided to head to Mendoza as soon as we could by bus (7 hours). Much to our delight, we arrived in Mendoza (Argentina) in the middle of their wine festival, when locals dress up in traditional costume and there are many local wines and dishes to taste and markets to tour. Our pockets liked the fact that a 3 course meal with wine cost the equivalent of ₤2.50! From Mendoza we did a fantastic day trip up into the Andes which were, of course, spectacular, with many glacial mountains and views of the highest peak (Aconcagua, 6000m asl). We also did a local wine tour and chocolate factory, both in one day – almost too much excitement to bare! The highlight of Argentina was paragliding. We were driven up a very dodgy looking track (narrower than the vehicle) with a sheer drop to one side (sorry Mum!), up to a height of over 2000m. Once clipped into a harness …
