Galicia And Its Wonders
The region of Galicia
The northwest of Spain hosts the amazing Galicia, whose capital is the beautiful city of Santiago de Compostela. The history of the region is violent one; the Visigoths, the Romans, the Moors and the Vikings, they all visited the region and wanted at some point in the past to rule it. Even though the region is predominantly a mountainous one, the coastline is also very attractive, having millions of tourists from all the corners of the world every single year. The coastline is so attractive because the beaches are absolutely amazing, they all have picturesque views and traditional restaurants which serve delicious dishes and this is all what a tourist wants and expects from a holiday. The mountains are not the highest that Spain has, but almost the entire area is covered by Protected Natural Parks, due to the beauty of the landscapes which the government wants to keep intact, and to the amazing number of plants and animals that found their homes here.
Santiago de Compostela
The La Coruna province, which is also found in the region of Galicia, has the wonderful Santiago de Compostela as its capital. The town is famous for being a big pilgrimage center, as it is believed that the remains of Saint James are buried in the Cathedral. The city has a lot of churches and monasteries to offer, as well as buildings of great historical importance. Since you are in the region, visit Lugo, a city whose Roman Wall was designated World Heritage by the UNESCO.
Ourense
If you want to visit a province which is completely surrounded by mountains, Ourense is the right place for you. Ourense is extremely popular among tourists due to its spectacular landscapes; the valleys of the river and Manzaneda, which is a very famous sky resort offering great views which are of a surreal beauty. The main activities in Ourense, apart from tourism, are the wine production, as well as the potato cultivation and the animal breeding. So, if you visit Ourense, you will have the chance to taste some of the most delicious dishes prepared with fresh ingredients.
Pontevedra
Galicia has four provinces, out of which Pontevedra is the smallest one. It is also the province with the most varied types of scenery, great historical monuments, an interesting old quarter and heavenly gardens. Visit Galicia and live the great Spanish experience.

A TripAdvisorâ„¢ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Sucre, Bolivia by TravelPod blogger Themurphys titled “Bolivia’s Capital Sucre & The Molly Crisis” Themurphys’s travel blog entry: “Well it had to happen I guess as the kids insist that something always goes wrong when we go away… theyve have been trying to ban our trips due to this problem…haha So a couple of days ago we received an urgent email from Lia saying she couldnt get us on the phone and could we ring..mmmm…not good… On ringing we discover that Mollys cruciate ligament in the “good leg” has gone. Big problem – We know this will be causing chaos for the kids who are at work all day.. Mollys in pain and doesnt have one good back leg to stand on, needs to be confined to playpen or laundry..as I said big problem. So I got Trish to ring Qantas as I had no idea on the conditions of our tickets and found that we get one free change of date! – For a change luck is with us.. We couldnt change the flights until the 21st but at least we could tell the kids to not let the vet operate until we get home (she’d need someone home for a day or so and thats ridiculous for the kids to do) – told them to get pain killers and we’d get her operated on the day after we get home… So this decision means that we will bail on the tour in Sucre… when the group goes onto Uyuni, Salar de Uyuni (the salt lakes) and Potosi (the silver mines) we will catch a plane back to La Paz for one night and then take a 8 hour bus ride from …
